Let's Ketchup

Hi everyone! My name is Heather, and I am from the great city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! I have been married almost six wonderful years (this October), to my husband Matt. I am very lucky that he doesn't mind my obsession of crafting. My crafting mainly consisted of crocheting and making wreaths! Our wonderful Christopher Cropp has shown and taught me so much more. My craft room is quickly expanding with lots of product! When Christopher asked me to be apart of the Brutus|Monroe design team I could not be more excited and honored to share creativity and inspire others. Today I am bringing you the first of many wonderful project ideas this team will offer.

My inspiration for this project happened to come from my brother recently moving out of state for a new job. Brutus|Monroe's "Lets Ketchup" stamp set was perfect for making a thinking of you/missing you card.

Stamp 2 hamburgers and 2 ketchup bottles on white paper.
After stamping and cleaning the ink off of the stamp place the stamp back over the design and trace the edge using your pencil. A mechanical pencil works extremely well as it allows you to make the lead taller and stay close to the stamp.
Once the outline has been traced for all stamps use your colored pencils to add color to the hamburger and ketchup bottle. I used my prismacolor premier colored pencils.
After color has been added I then added the eyes onto the hamburger and bottle. When putting the eyes on the ketchup bottle I had to do one eye at a time and the nose last to ensure it fit properly into the white space.
Cut out hamburger, and ketchup bottles. Make sure to erase any pencil markings that may have been left behind after cutting.
I used Cricut design space and my Cricut Explore to make the word bubbles and film border. The film border I used was #M3986F and the size was 7"x 2.69". Cut the film border using your red cardstock. I used Bazzill’s paper called ruby slipper.
For the word bubbles I used the print then cut option offer by design space and Cricut Explore. The word bubble I used was #M46AC7, size 1.29” x 1.02”. The font I selected was birthday cakes, the font size was 14, and I changed the font color to red. I used the centering option now offered in design space to ensure that the wording was centered in the word bubble. Select both the word bubble and font layers and flatten the design. This will create your print then cut image. Print and cut the three word bubbles on your white cardstock.
While you are in design space let’s go ahead and cut out the banner that is used on the inside of the card. This will be used for the Let’s ketchup stamp. This banner I used was #MFB1FF, and the size of it was 4.14” x 1.52. The banner was also cut using the red Bazzill paper.
Once all of your pieces have been cut we can start assembling the card! I created an A2 card. If you already have card bases created great. If not an A2 card is your 5x7 card. I used white card stock and cut my paper to 7x10. I aligned my paper up on my score board and scored along the A2 groove of the board. Fold your card in half along the score line.
Let’s cut down the remaining pieces of paper. Using my paper cutter I cut 2 – 7”x5” pieces of the gray and white chevron paper, and 1- 6.5” x 4.5” of white. My gray chevron paper was from the We R memory keepers basic paper pad.
Using your adhesive attach one of the gray chevron pieces to the front of the card, and one to the instead of the card where your sentiment will go. Than center the white piece over top of the gray chevron that is on the inside of the card.
Stamp your Let’s Ketchup sentiment on the red banner that we previous cut, and once stamped use your adhesive and place the banner slightly over the left top corner of the white paper so that the red slightly overlaps onto the chevron paper. You have completed the inside of your card
For the front of the card you will want to place your film border diagonally across the card, however do not glue this into place. Once in the position you would like, use the adhesive and glue down both hamburgers and ketchup bottles in their boxes.
Using your double sided adhesive foam squares, attach several of them to the backside of the film border. Make sure to position them evenly along the top and bottom on the film stripe to avoid any buckling of the design once it is attached to the card. Peel off the protector pieces of the adhesive and adhere the film stripe to the front of the card. Make sure to slowly position the film stripe so that you can ensure that each of the hamburgers and ketchup bottles appears in the boxes as you desire.
Going back to your regular adhesive, attach each of the word bubbles to the film strip and line up with the appropriate boxes. Once all three bubbles are attached you have completed your Let’s Ketchup card!
