Butterflies Abound at Brutus/Monroe
Welcome back! I’m Aletha posting as one of the members of our Brutus/Monroe Inspiration Team. Today I will be walking you through the design process of an A2 sized card with our Butterfly Sentiments and matching dies.
I decided on my colors from our Surface Inks. These amazing inks, when dry, are waterproof and dry on non-porous surfaces. I love rich and deep colors and I’m partial to bright also. The inks I chose in our Surface Inks line were Speckled Egg, Sea, Zest, and Marsala for the butterflies. I stamped each solid image butterfly with those colors and our 100# Alabaster card stock, but not the Speckled Egg. I let those beauties dry and added our Raven Detail Ink to the detailed butterfly images. I die cut each butterfly with our matching Butterfly Sentiments dies. It was a difficult decision deciding which of the butterflies to use. As you can see I picked all three colors, but of the same butterfly image.
I sat those aside and inked our Scratch Stamp background (love this texture) on our Alabaster cardstock with Speckled Egg. Our Scratch Stamp background is unavailable at the moment. I trimmed this panel to 4” x 5.25” and distressed the edges with our Raven ink. Before attaching this panel to a dark turquoise panel, I centered a piece of gold embroidery thread, popped up the butterflies to the thread. I used one of the sentiments from our Butterfly Sentiments set on a scrap piece of this dark turquoise paper with our Raven Detail ink. For a little shine I covered it with Ranger’s Glossy Accents.
The last detail was assembling the card on our 130# “Not Your Moma’s Cardstock” (great for card bases) and adding a few of our decorative bubbles. These little bubbles add a little something to any project.
Thanks for stopping by. Come back tomorrow, Wednesday, for a very special Inspiration Team blog hop (and I mean SPECIAL). If you have any questions please join our Brutus/Monroe Fan Club on Facebook and ask away!
