Clean & Simple Split Stencil Design
Hey guys!
I'm happy to be back on the Brutus Monroe blog sharing another card tutorial with you. Today's card is clean and simple but has that wow factor, too!
To get started, I grabbed April's Stencil of the Month and a few Distress Inks. I used Old Paper, Evergreen Bough, and Black Soot (this is one of Kristina's Oxide combos, but I used it with regular Distress Ink and it works well!).
I masked off a diagonal strip of my card using Purple Tape and then placed my stencil on top. I lined up the design so that it gave a lacy sort of look and started blending. I removed the stencil, flipped it over, lined it up in the same way on the bottom side of my purple tape and repeated the ink blending.
I carefully removed my purple tape and revealed a really cool design! I love that white blank space in the center - it's perfect for a sentiment! I grabbed some black card stock and used the 'thanks' die to cut out my sentiment. I used Brutus Monroe Craft Glue to adhere the sentiment in the center of my masked area.
I added some cute black and white twine on the edge of the bottom stenciled area and then tied a tiny little bow for some added interest. I trimmed my card panel down to 3.75 x 5 and mounted it on foam tape. I adhered the card front to an A2 sized card base and that finished off my card.
I hope you're inspired to get creative with your stencils and try out some fun new masking and blending techniques. Be sure to share you creations with us on social media by tagging @brutusmonroe @acarddayswork and even posting in the Brutus Monroe Fan Club group on Facebook.
