Diamonds! Using the Gilded Embossing Powder on Cards
Hello! Thanks for joining us on the blog today! I don't know about you, but I love throwing a little gold and sparkle into my cards. I have the Diamonds Stamp Set and I thought that would pair perfectly with the Gilded Embossing Powder!
I wanted the gold embossing to really stand out, so I kept the color palate simple with just gold, white, and black.
I began my card by taking a white piece of cardstock and cutting it down so it was just a little bit more narrow than my card base. I knew I wanted to have a little washi tape peeking out of the side underneath my panel. I added some black and white striped tape, and then I die cut the gold glittery tape with a scalloped border die and then added that, as well. I set the card base aside to work on the front panel.
I added some anit-static powder to the whole front of my card panel so that my embossing would be crisp and clear. I then stamped out the diamonds onto the panel just on the bottom and to the right of the panel. I used the Brutus Monroe Embossing Ink to stamp and then the Gilded Embossing powder over the top. I needed a small stamp to fill in some of the awkward blank spots so I grabbed the little "sparkle" stamp from the Birthday Wish stamp set and embossed those in gold, too.
The sentiment that comes with the stamp set made me giggle, but I decided I wanted something a little more generic so that I could send this card for a number of different occasions. I grabbed a sentiment from another set in my stash and then embossed that in gold onto a strip of black cardstock that I trimmed into a banner shape.
I layered the sentiment over a piece of vellum that I stenciled the Polka Stencil using the Alabaster White Pigment Ink on. Then I adhered those two strips down on the card.
For a last finishing touch, I added another diamond next to the sentiment that I also embossed in gold, this time on vellum. I brushed it with Silver Wink of Stella to make it sparkle!
I went ahead and finished the card by adding some rhinestones on top of the sparkle stamps. The whole card is a pretty simple design but that gold embossing makes it just pop!
Thanks for checking out today's card! I hope its given you a little inspiration today to help put a smile on your face.
Happy crafting!
