Die of the Month - June

 Hello crafting folks,

Today I am excited to share with you the new Die of the Month subscription. The first die offered is beautifully intricate and can be used in so many ways to create cards for all occasions. The Die of the Month is new to Brutus Monroe and can be purchase as a subscription for $24 per month which includes shipping or individually for $29.99 each.

I love this die and have decided to share my first card creation using it. But I could not go the easy option of simply cutting out the die and adhering it to a card base. (I know many times in the future I will take this option but not today.)  I opted for something much more complicated and time consuming by using the negative space pieces.  Took me over an hour  to do this options.

I started this card by cutting out the die in three colors. I then used one of the die cuts as a stencil guide. On an alabaster white piece of cardstock I taped the newly created stencil. Next I took the three different colors of cut outs and started to glue them back into the stencil to create the pattern in three colors. I must admit the tiny triangle shaped pieces were a challenge. Using a glue pen I was able to put back the pieces in the color pattern I chose. I then peeled away the stencil and trimmed up the edges of the white layer. Using the three colors of the die cuts I layered the card front and adhered the die cut layer.

Now for a sentiment:  I die cut a simple hello and added a stamped sub-sentiment on alabaster card stock. I decided to use glossy accents on the word die to add a little shine to the card front. I also added a few sequins because I can not help myself when it comes to sequins. I truly believe most cards look better with a bit of bling.

I do think this same card would look great if I had just used the die cut instead of the cut outs to create the design but I just wanted to try it. I hope you agree with me that the extra time was worth it and give it a try.

Please share your die background cards with us on the Brutus Monroe Facebook Fan Page. We are looking forward to seeing them.

Enjoy
