Foiling Layered Stamps with Brutus Monroe Inks + Deco Foil!
Hello, friends! I do hope you have been enjoying this week's posts featuring Therm O Web items alongside our favorite Brutus Monroe items!
Today I wanted to share some really simple but fun cards featuring a layering stamp that I used with BRUTUS MONROE SURFACE INKS as well as some of Deco Foil Transfer Gel and Deco Foil sheets. The results are just stunning!
I started by taking some plain white cardstock and then stamping my images on them. This stamp is one I found on sale by We R Memory Keepers. Just a simple flower set with three layers. I used a number of SURFACE INKS on these. I tried to use several hues that were close, so that it would give a soft shadowing effect. When layering stamps, you want to start with your lightest color, and then add in the layers with your darker colors. If you use your darkest color first, you may not see the other layers when stamped on top.
Since I wanted to try foiling with these layering stamps, I used ink for the first two layers, and then for the third and final layer, I applied some Deco Foil Transfer Gel to the stamp and then lined it up and stamped it over the image. When using theDeco Foil Transfer Gel , you want to let it completely dry before foiling. The good news is, if you use just a little bit, it dries quite quickly.
Once the Deco Foil Transfer Gel is dry, just run it through your laminator or Minc with your choice of Deco Foil Transfer Sheets on top! I have learned that with my little laminator, I'll grab my paper once it comes through and then run it again a second time. I seem to get a better foiling this way, and I believe its because it helps heat it up enough. So dont be afraid to run your project through several times!
After I had my layered and foiled backgrounds done, I just needed to add some sentiments. I grabbed my BE BRAVE STAMP SET and selected a few sentiments from it that I thought would be fun and encouraging. I stamped and embossed these sentiments on vellum and then used my EMBOSSING INK along with my PENNY POWDER and my very favorite GILDED POWDER to emboss.
Then, with my sentiments embossed, I just matted them on a piece of white cardstock and then popped them up on my cards with some foam adhesive!
Simple and stunning backgrounds! The inks look amazing when layered but the Deco Foil Transfer Sheets it adds a whole new WOW factor, don't you think?
Thanks for stopping by today, and remember to CREATE YOUR OWN ENDING!
Until next time,
Marie Nicole
