Hippie Soul
Do you struggle with making cards masculine themed cards? I do. And the worst part is trying to make a card just before you need it. I decided that I’ll keep aside some time to make some masculine themed ones before I needed them.
I made this one with the May Inspiration box stamps called Beach Bum along with the heatwave stencil and Chroma Mists. I am loving this set for a masculine cards and summer themed projects.
To make this card I masked off about an inch on the left hand side before I started brushing on Chroma Mists in Yellow orange, Pink and Turquoise blue over watercolor card stock. Once dry, I used the clear embossing ink with the tall giraffe image and the sentiment and poured raven black embossing powder. After cleaning up any stray specks of powder I heat set it with the heat tool.
Next, I removed the masking tape and covered the finished side of the image so I could stencil the left side of the panel with Heatwave stencil. I used black soot distress oxide ink for this. Once done, I removed the stencil and applied anti static powder wanting to heat emboss the sentiment Hippie Soul over the stenciling. This is where I made a boo boo. Yes, it happens sometimes when you are impatient :).
I thought stenciling was dry and since I had applied antistatic powder it would be ok to use embossing powder. So having stamped the sentiment in a repeating pattern in clear embossing ink I proceeded to put the black embossing powder and it went everywhere!! Eeek !! So to save the card, I quickly took a large dry paintbrush and removed the embossing powder. Luckily the clear ink was barely visible over the stencil so I went over and stamped the sentiment again with Black soot ink. Phew!
To finish the card I added some splatter with the same oxide ink, tied yellow floss and added a few jet black matte gems to embellish it. I hope you like this card tutorial.
