My Hero~Watercolor Effect with Our Chalk Inks
HelloHello!
Happy New Year!
It's Kim today and I wonder, who is your hero? I felt it would be nice to celebrate that special hero today with a light, airy watercolor effect card.
I used lots of Brutus Monroe supplies, but the star or hero of this craft story is the fabulous chalk inks. I love them!
I used the Folkwave stencil and Sea and Cornflower Chalk Inks for the background.
To get the watercolor effect, I just smooshed a 'square' of ink onto my craft mat. Then spritzed with a bit of water. I mixed the ink and water together then sponged it through the stencil onto watercolor paper. The ink dries fairly quickly non its own, I used my heat tool to make sure it was dry before the next step. The ink cleans up easy and fast with Squeaky Clean Stamp Cleaner.
Once dry, using embossing ink and the hearts from the Beautiful stamp set, I stamped directly on top of the stenciled watercolor paper. I heat embossed the lovely hearts with the gold Gilded Brutus Monroe powder. On a scrap I embossed My Hero in Gilded.
With more chalk ink, water and paint brush I added some big splashes 'n spatters. Dab them up right away for some faint texture. Add some more ink to the puddle and spatter some stronger color dots. For the My Hero 'flag', I dipped the edges into the ink puddle before wiping up. Let dry.
Last steps using a 'corrugated' sheet from the Midway Paper Pad, trim and layer onto the card base. That's it!
I love this soft effect card, hope you do too! Recognize a hero in your life.
Have a great day!
