Proud Dog Mama Scrapbook Page
Hey everyone! My name is MJ and I’m so excited to share my first Brutus Monroe project for the 2021 Inspiration team! This page is special to me, because I’m a proud dog mama, and I love incorporating my dogs into my scrapbook pages.
I’m always looking for a new way to play with fun items, and one of my favorite things to do is to try to use products in unconventional ways to create something unique and fun!! I started out by diluting down some "Beautiful Blush" Velveteen Glaze into a spray bottle, and then spraying that lightly over the Circle Tone stencil. I didn't add too much Glaze to the spray bottle, because I wanted the effect to be a bit more subtle, but you could certainly add more glaze if you wanted the pink to be more visible. My main reason for using the Circle Tone stencil was to evenly distribute the product and subtly add texture and color to the page rather than a bold blast of color like my normal projects.
I did this process a few times until I had enough stenciled papers to start die cutting! I die cut each of my stenciled pages using Judy's Wreath to create all of the beautiful petals along the outside of the project, and also to create the small embellishments that you can see along the outside of the flower. I just love the way that they give an extra finishing touch on this page!
I consider myself to be a fairly eco-conscious gal, and I like to get the most out of my scraps- so I used the scraps from one of the petals to create the center focal point for this page. I created this custom textured frame by taking smaller dies from the same set and die cutting them around the edge of the frame. To make sure that the dies stayed in position around the frame, I used a generous amount of washi tape to ensure that they would not wiggle around.
Next, I sprayed some of the remaining DIY Velveteen Blush spray that I created earlier to do one final misting over the focal point frame. I went a little more generous with the spray for this part, because I really wanted this part to pop!
To finish up the page, I used a leftover swatch sheet that I created when I first received my DT package, that included swatches of fun variety of colorful Chroma Glazes and Velveteen Glazes. I actually don’t have a green glaze, so I got creative and blended Sherbert and Teal together to create my own custom color. I love color mixing and finding ways to create new things with products that I already have on hand, and I honestly love how this one turned out!!
To complete this page, I just backed the center wreath with the swatch sheet, inserted my photo, and cut it down to my liking!! It’s too bad that dogs can’t talk, because I feel like Tiny would think this page that I made for her is pretty pawsome 😉
