Rainbow Happy Birthday Whirlpool Card
Today I am sharing a simple birthday card featuring the July Stencil of the month: Whirlpool. I started by making a rainbow background with Aqua Pigments on Aqua Pigment Paper. When I make a rainbow, I like to use just three colors. I started with the Yellow in the middle of the paper and covered 3/4ths of the panel. Then starting on the top, I added some Red, overlapping some of the yellow to create my Orange. Then I flipped my panel over and added some red to the bottom. Next, I added some Blue starting at the bottom and overlapping the red. As I move the blue up to meet and overlap the yellow, my rainbow is complete. I set the panel aside to dry overnight.
The next day, using my Stick and Stamp mat to hold my panel in place, I layered the Whirlpool stencil over the top. (When using glazes or gels, I like to use a little Pixie spray in the middle so that my stencil sticks to my paper in the middle.) I covered the stencil with Unicorn Horn Glitter Glaze. I removed my stencil and clean it and any extra glaze up and then set my panel aside to dry again.
While my panel was drying I created my A2 Card base from white cardstock. I also went through my stash and found a happy die and birthday stamp. I die cut the happy from white scraps 3 times and once from sliver gloss paper. I stacked the happy die cuts together with some liquid glue. After stamping the Birthday word on a scrap of white cardstock with Embossing Ink, I covered it with Sterling Embossing Powder and heat set it.
Once my rainbow panel was dry, I used a frame from my stash to die cut it . I popped up the inner section for some dimension and adhered the sentiment on the bottom.
I love how the Unicorn Glaze sparkles in the sunlight and gives the rainbow colors some amazing texture.
