To get started I used some watercolor paper that was large enough to fit this entire 5.5 x5.5 square Floral Vintage background stamp. I used Raven Detail ink to stamp the image, this took several times to stamp since the image is so large and detailed and I am stamping on textured watercolor paper.
Now comes the fun and messy part! For this I got out some Aqua Pigments in red, yellow and blue. I laid down strips of the Aqua Pigments on a mat making sure to coordinate my colors so that they would blend well together; Red then yellow then blue then red again, etc. Then I laid the stamped image down and let the ink soak into the paper. I didn't add any water to this, yet.
After pulling up my paper this is what is left on the mat! You could reuse this if you want to make another background. The colors are gorgeous and so vibrant but I wanted to tone them down just a bit on the stamped watercolor background. I used a sprayer with clean water and patted with a cloth to pick up some of the Aqua Pigment color.
I dried this panel with a heat gun then painted on some Aqua Pigment in Pearl in the larger floral images. I used the Fussy cutting scissors to trim out the center portion and also used a rectangle die from my stash to die cut the floral panel.
Using a Black Soot Distress Oxide ink I inked through the Stencil of the month for January on a A2 card base. This is a beautiful intricate lace stencil. I adhered the watercolor floral piece to the card base and stamped the sentiment in the center.
Alright that is it from me today! I hope you enjoyed this floral rainbow card.
