Hi everyone! It is Verity here again from Pretty Little Button, so good to be back up on the blog again. I am showing you another card using to the Topsy Cake stamp set, I just love this set!! This is a nice clean and simple card and I love how the white space really brings out the colouring of the cakes. I also added a little ink blending in the background to highlight the stamps. Recently, I had discovered how easy and beautiful the surface inks from Brutus Monroe are to blend. Give them a try and you will be adding it to your card all the time!
Stay calm and eat cake card details:
To start off, I trimmed a piece of Alabaster card down to 1/4" small than my cardbase. Using a blending tool and Honeysuckle surface ink, I softly blended in one corner where I wanted to place my focal point. I gradually applied colour for a darker middle with the colour fading out in a rough circle. For a little more added interest in the background, I added a little ink splatter in the same colour. I mixed a small amount of the ink with water on an acrylic block and splattered with a paintbrush.
I stamped a cake and 3 cupcakes from the Topsy Cake stamp set in Raven Detail Ink and coloured these in with pencils. As I had used a pink colour for the blending, I tried to use a colour scheme that complemented this. I foam mounted and matted the cakes onto the card to add depth and interest.
Don't you just love the sentiment 'Stay calm and eat cake'? I thought this went perfectly foam mounted under the cakes. I added a little piece of silver sparkle washi tape for detail and lastly embellished with a few holographic sequins from my stash.
