Stencil of the Month- July
Crafty Folks,
Creating today using the Brutus Monroe Stencil of the Month (July). Background stencils do not have to be only used as the background of a card. We can use sections of it on smaller images and that is what I did. I am trying to push my way of thinking when I see a stencil or a stamp or a die. I hope this inspires you to try using items differently in your projects.
I started by die cutting six hearts in various colors. I then stenciled onto the hearts using matching inks to create texture and depth on the hearts. I cut thin strips of matching card stock and two in black to lay diagonally across the alabaster layer one of a 5" x 7" card.
I stamped the sentiment in Raven Detail Ink and cut it into a small banner. I die cut hi (Brutus Monroe alphabet dies) and placed it onto the heart and attached the rest of the sentiment below it onto the same heart.
This layer was adhered to a black card base and a few sequins were added to give a bit of shine to the card.
We would love to see how you use standard items in new and creative ways to make your cards. Please share your ideas and examples with us on the Brutus Monroe Facebook Page.
Enjoy
