Stencil of the Month- June
Hello crafting peeps!
Sharing the Brutus Monroe June Stencil of the Month with you using a different twist to stenciling. I hope you all have had a chance to join this great offering by Brutus Monroe.
Today we are using the resist method to create the design on the card. I started by ink blending some greens and yellows onto a layer one (4x5 1/4 in) Alabaster white piece of cardstock. Next I blue taped the stencil of the month over the color blended cardstock to keep it from moving. Now for the start of the resist technique. I added translucent texture paste over the stencil to create the stencil design onto the layer. I removed the stencil and allowed the texture paste to dry. Once it dried I covered the entire layer in dark blue ink. Once the blue ink dried I wiped the card layer removing the blue ink from the stencil design because the translucent texture paste acts as a resist to the ink. It wipes off nicely allowing the blended ink to create the design of the stencil.
I cut a one inch section of the design approximately 3/4s of the way down the layer to make a space for the sentiment. I stamped the Happy Birthday from the Sharon's Script Stamp Set from Brutus Monroe onto a dark yellow card base. I adhered the two pieces of the stenciled layer above and below the sentiment. My last step was to add a few sequins to add that bling I so love.
It is always fun to try something new especially when it is so easy to do. Please give it a try and share your results with us on the Brutus Monroe Facebook Fan Page.
Enjoy
