True Love Halloween
Brutus Monroe’s True Love Halloween Light-up Wobble Card
by Jenn Gross
I love this whimsy stamp set by Brutus Monroe. True love Halloween is a joyful ride on a young witches’ broom across the night sky. I created an interactive card that features our sweethearts as a wobbler and the trail of stars they leave behind lights up! You will find the tutorial below for this fun A2 size card so you can recreate it as your own. Enjoy! ~ Jenn
I stamping this fun True Love Halloween image with Raven Detail Ink and then colored the image with my Spectrum Noir TriBlend Markers
I distressed a piece of 5 ¼” x 4” piece of cardstock with Pine Needles, Black Soot, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Inks and blender bushes to create the card front
I die cut the cluster of stars (Tim Holtz 663095) on the card front as shown
I thought this beautiful piece of lava paper would reflect the lights I will add to this card.
I added double stick tape to the back of the lava paper
The lava paper is slightly smaller than the card front. I turned the card front over and traced the lava paper outline on the backside. This will help with placement of the EZ-Lights and the foam tape
Brutus Monroe carries the EZ Lights by Pear Blossom Press. They are pre-wired all in one lights and make it super easy to create your own light up cards. The battery pack includes a simple switch. The only thing you have to do is figure out where you want your lights to go and tape them in place. I used one of the EZ-Light and one included battery for this card
I figured out where I wanted to place the switch and then where to put the lights. If you find the wires to be longer than you need you can always loop or loosely knot the extra wires
I placed the switch face down and in place with foam tape. I find the Brutus Monroe Foam Tape Roll (1/4” wide 1/8” thick) to be the perfect thickness to use with the EZ-Lights. I set the lights in place as shown using pieces of the foam tape to secure the lights
I added the battery and tested the lights and adjusted the light placement
I added more foam tape to frame the back of the card front
I peeled off the foam tape backing and added the lava paper (holographic side down and double stick tape facing up) to adhere the card front to the base
After fussy cutting out the True Love Halloween image, I added a wobbler to the back and attached it to the front right side of the star swish. It looks as they are leaving a trail of stars as they race across the sky
I set switch button for the lights on the left lower side when I attached it to the card. I stamped “Push Here” in black ink to provide a subtle prompt for the light switch.
I used Spooky stamp die set from Taylored Expressions to give the sky a bit of an eerie feeling. I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock and created a larger eerie cloud framing the words “Witching you a Happy Halloween.”
I hope you enjoy this fun tutorial. Check out Brutus Monroe website for the True Love Halloween stamp set, Raven Detail Ink, EZ-Lights, and the roll of Foam Tape.
Happy Creating!
