Warm Cozy Wishes
I am in love with these coffee cups from the new COZY COFFEE set! There's three unique coffee cups with fun cozies on them, a few hearts that can be used together, and some great sentiments. I used the images from this set to create a cute but simple coffee themed card with an ink smooshed background.
First, I stamped out the coffee cups using my Misti and my Brutus Monroe DETAIL INK. I knew I wanted to color these images with my STYLEFILE MARKERS, so I needed an ink that is permanent and will not smear with alcohol ink. Detail ink does exactly that!
After my images were stamped, I used several warm colors to create some fun coordinating coffee cups. Now, I knew I wanted maroon-ish colored cups but I didnt have those colors of markers, so I took a few reds and blended them together with a few purples until I had exactly what I wanted. I encourage you to play around with different color combinations for your alcohol markers. You will be surprised which ones work well together! It is also a great way to "stretch your stash" when you want a color you don't have.
When my images were colored, I fussy cut them and set them aside so I could build my background. This was done by squishing out several hues of brown dye ink onto a plastic sheet, spritzing the ink with water, and then pressing my cardstock into it. I then used my heat tool to dry the ink and then repeated the "smooshing" several more times to build a few layers of color.
Before my "smooshing", I took one of the sentiments from the set and embossed it using ALABASTER EMBOSSING POWDER along with the Brutus Monroe EMBOSSING INK. Since I embossed it before adding the ink, it acted as a resist, and the white powder showed up clearly under the cups.
To add the cups, I adhered the two outside ones with foam adhesive, and the middle cup on an action wobbler. I love that the wobbler makes this card a little bit interactive and fun!
I finished the card by mounting it on a kraft card base, and adding a twin bow to the very top. I love this COZY COFFEE stamp set and Im sure I'll be grabbing for this one often!
Thanks for stopping by today!
